2:00:04, 23.39 miles, 1240 kcal
I was reluctant to work out tonight since I did overtime at work for two hours, killing most of my evening and I have more overtime tomorrow. I still did it. I'm sure my next weigh-in will reflect that.
I passed 500 miles today.

Week 4: Day 5
2:00:05, 23.11 miles, 1224 kcal
I didn't pay much attention to keeping my heart rate up this time and just let the chips fall. I was in the upper 130s most of the time. To hold an average speed of 11.5MPH while having a heart rate that "low" is new to me. My condition is improving.
And I finally got around to trying a supercomputer node BIOS upgrade and installing the dual-core processors. Ran perfectly the first try with lower power consumption than the old single-core chips. Nine more to go, eventually.

Week 4: Day 3
2:00:13, 24.17 miles, 1280 kcal
I wasn't bouncing off my heart rate limit anywhere near as often this time. My tailbone still hurts.
I found out today that I moved up to first place in the contest at work by 0.2%. I need to widen that gap quite a bit so I'm taking this even more seriously now.

A little slower today. I expected as much after yesterday's workout. I got it done.

Week 4: Day 1
2:00:03, 25.48 miles, 1357 kcal
I started my workout just before 8PM and went to 10PM. I don't like staying up that late on a work night, but it had to be done. I spent most of my day doing eBay and workshop stuff. I already sold the PSP I never play.
I'll surely be back for more tomorrow. I found myself bounding off the upper heart rate limit on my monitor a lot since I just got way into Mario Kart 64, especially at the end of the game.
I ate some processed foods today, namely, three Tornadoes crispy burrito type things. Bad move. I swear that stuff doesn't burn the same way. It's almost like I ate nothing at all, for as unsatisfying as it is. I understand why Jim Gaffigan is against Hot Pockets. Those Tornadoes occupy the same spot on the food pyramid.
No slacker.

Week 3: Day 7
2:00:04, 23.12 miles, 1227 kcal
No slacker. That's three calendar weeks in the books. I was tired after the morning workout. I almost fell asleep, actually. I realized later it was probably due to lack of breakfast. I made up for it at dinner with the in-laws. Two bacon cheeseburgers, some tots and a caramel brownie. So fattening, ordinarily, but so good. You know you're starving when a meal that size doesn't slow you down. I probably barely pegged 1600kcal for the day, all-inclusive.
Saw Avatar today. What an incredible movie. In doing a bit of homework after the fact (wondering if I got the whole message from it), there was one review that stuck out like my infected toe--that of Duncan Jones. “:| I that’s my concerned face. That’s how I feel after seeing Avatar. It’s not in my top three Jim Cameron films. Am I alone here?” … “at what point in the film did you have any doubt what was going to happen next? Or were you ever surprised how it happened?”*
Okay... so he was shocked when Titanic sank? If I want a surprise ending, I'll watch an M Night Shyamalan film.

Week 3: Day 6 - Belated
2:07:21, 23.79 miles, 1261 kcal
I did this workout Saturday morning from 7:30 to 9:30. I spent last night preparing my workshop for more ebay sales. It still needs more work.
I'm no slacker. I just need to prove I can do my workouts and do the ebay thing at the same time.

2:03:00, 24 miles, 1272 kcal
I was going to go for 25 miles, but my right knee started clicking slightly. I'm not pushing my luck.
I'm still no slacker. My big toe on my left foot has a minor infection right now from a sharp spot I missed while clipping the nail. I'll be tending to that tonight for sure.

Week 3: Day 3
2:10:03, 25.52 miles, 1349 kcal
My pace is too fast to make playing a new video game easy without slowing down. This makes the task at hand kind of boring. Boredom is a pain. This is still something I need to do and I will force myself to do it.
I found out I'm 1.4lb behind in the contest and while I could whine about still having to burn the calories to grab the same percentage loss, I'm not going to. I may have to work harder, but so does everyone else who's as overweight as I am. I'm going to have to do this twice, though, since the next round will be hit with freight train momentum already built up--something I didn't have when I started this.
I just have to hold on despite the boredom and aches. I'd rather do this now than when the weather is good outside. No pain and frustration suck as badly as those of failure. Short term success is seductive. The road ahead is about to get a lot more challenging in terms of the psychological side. I have to pay my dues and need to remember I'm working on losing 80lbs and that never comes easy without gastric bypass surgery.

Week 3: Day 1: Workout 2
2:00:11, 22.83 miles , 1211 kcal
I was down and came back. I toed the mark. I'm no slacker. I've burned 2400kcal today alone and still held 11.4MPH for this second session. I wonder how I will feel tomorrow and what my weigh-in will say.
I learned this weekend that rice is both a friend and an enemy. While it swells up and makes you feel more full, it also holds onto the water it takes up and makes you feel bloated later on. Still, it's sure to be a good food for when I've hit my target weight.
I've reached a bit of a milestone. Since I play games during my workouts to keep my from getting bored, I need to keep new stock. Saints Row 2 on the 360 got me through week 1 and most of week 2. Castlevania 2: Simon's Quest got me through today and will work for part of tomorrow for sure. I need a meatier game that I've never finished in order to keep things interesting. So I bought Metroid on my Wii. I played this back when I was a kid and almost every retro gamer knows the JUSTIN BAILEY code by heart. I seem to recall encountering one Metroid, but that was it. I'm going to play the living hell out of this game and move up to Super Metroid next.

Week 3: Day 1: Workout 1
2:00:23, 23.34 miles, 1231kcal
I missed the workout yesterday due to my bike being stuck behind furniture during a rearrangement of the room. This is yesterday's workout. I'll do today's workout after dinner with the family.
This is interesting. My pace has picked up a lot. Over 11.5MPH now. Maybe delaying yesterday's workout was a good idea? If true, this will help when I'm training every other day once I've dropped the weight.

Tailbone hurts. Took pain pills and they didn't seem to help.
It's getting to be difficult to keep my heart rate up above 120. Something's changing.

forgot my pain relievers again. It's not my knees, it's my butt cheeks. I'm sure it won't be a problem when I'm 70lbs lighter. I'll just keep shooting for that distant star.

I wondered why I was aching so bad early on and realized I hadn't taken any pain relievers. I took some Naproxen and managed to last through it all.

Time: 2:05:49, 19.8 miles, 1048 kcal burned
I spent Friday being safe with my knees to avoid trouble. I spent Saturday finishing off my storage bay, requiring a lot of lift and carry work to give my knees a little bit of exercise. Today, I went for it. That was a good workout.

Bikey 2K10 Shtart!
1:40:44, 16.2mi, Res: 4, 858.9kcal
So it begins again. That was a hell of a session. I still have a cold and I'm coughing now. And sweating hard. I don't track my heart rate. My Polar monitor warns me if I go outside my target zone. I won't worry about it. I'll see my distances and speeds trend upward for a given heart rate. That's all. I'm not going to give myself too much paperwork to do in all of this. I'd rather use that time to burn calories or do any of the other stuff I've got to do.
