11-16-2009 - Man Vs. Junk Part 2

Tis the season for air conditioners, lawnmowers, electric scooters and garden hose to be put away for a few months. I did exactly that variety of thing for the day's workout. Fortunately, since I'd rather be doing cardio, the outdoor work is almost done. If we could just have an unexpected warm-snap soon, the rest would be done.

I installed a heater in my workshop for those times when my supercomputer isn't running. It's surprisingly powerful, actually, heating the shop from freezing to passing the no-shirt test in about an hour. It also developed a short at some point, tripping the under-house GFCI and circuit breaker all in one shot. As labor-intensive as resetting the GFCI turned out to be, I'd prefer not to deal with that again.

11/15/2009 - Man Versus Junk

I took Friday and Saturday off for precautionary recovery (something I should have done early on last time) and spent four hours on Sunday giving my storage bay a much-needed reorganization treatment. That made up for the missed workouts and my knees are still fine.

I should be able to go all week with the 100 minute cardio workouts. That's my goal. Still keeping the Ibuprofen, though.

11-12-2009

Time: 1:40:03, Distance: 17.93, Avg speed: 10.76MPH, Resistance: 4, energy burned: 950.6kcal, Avg pulse: 155

I was surprised to see my performance actually went up despite the back-to-back effect I saw the first time.

My knees are still just fine so far. I'm keeping on the Ibuprofen at a gram a day.

Two days in, 178 to go. My goal is to weigh in at 160 in six months. My secondary goal is to see how early I can hit that goal.

11-11-2009 - Saves More Time Than Dynamite

Time: 1:40:04, Distance:17.22mi, Avg Speed: 10.31MPH, Resistance: 4, energy burned: 911.6kcal; Avg Pulse: 150

I'm often using my computer in the evenings these days. I sell stuff on eBay so I'm answering questions and posting auctions regularly. If I'm going to sit in front of my computer this much, I should make it worth my time. I set my trainer bike up in front of the machine to see if I could train while doing eBay stuff, design stuff and gaming. Yes. It works very well.

I'm getting back into full swing now that my swine flu is gone and I've fully healed from my earlier surgery. I've got lost time to make up for. I've gone back to my old rule of 100/1000. 100 minutes or 1000kcal a session, whichever I feel like doing. No hour sessions. I feel like I'd be slacking there.
